Concrete driveways - they ain't what they used to be
Concrete driveways are making a real comeback in the building industry and it's little wonder given the many advantages of design versatility and structural integrity. Compared to other driveway materials, like asphalt, stone, or brick, concrete is the complete package as a material and I love seeing clients incorporate it into their design.
No longer are we limited to grey, flat slab finishes. You can choose almost any colour to provide a unique addition to your home’s exterior. And the versatility of either polished or textured finish ensures your concrete driveway truly harmonises with the style of your home.
In terms of strength and long-term structural integrity, concrete is one of the most functional materials available. The density and strength of concrete makes it an ideal load bearing material, adding to durability and fewer repairs.
Another great feature of a concrete driveway is simple maintenance. Generally, any stains or marks can be easily removed with warm water and soap. In some cases you may need something more heavy duty but the task is far less difficult than for other driveway materials.
And put simply, concrete is cost effective. Not only are you looking at a great price for poured concrete driveways, but it's also a terrific solution if you like the look of brick or stone but can't afford the inflated prices. Concrete pavers come in many different sizes, colours and shapes to suit whatever look you are after. In fact, compared to poured concrete, pavers are three times stronger and even less likely to crack.
So if your driveway needs updating or you are building a new home, consider using poured concrete or concrete pavers for all the advantages in functionally, design, maintenance and cost.
